La Palma's most beloved restaurant and a Canary Islands institution. Chipi-Chipi has been serving traditional Palmeran cuisine in the capital's historic centre since 1957. The restaurant occupies a charming 18th-century townhouse with traditional Canarian wooden balconies and a courtyard terrace. The menu is a journey through La Palma's culinary heritage: potaje de berros (watercress stew, the island's signature soup), grilled cherne (wreckfish) with papas arrugadas (wrinkly potatoes) and mojo, conejo en salmorejo (rabbit marinated in a Canarian paprika-garlic sauce), queso asado con mojo (grilled local cheese), and bienmesabe — the iconic almond-and-honey dessert for which La Palma is famous. The wine list features La Palma D.O. wines including the volcanic Malvasía and Albillo Criollo whites and Negramoll reds. The restaurant is family-run through multiple generations. The walls are decorated with historical photographs of old La Palma. Prices: €20–35 per person. This is the definitive restaurant for experiencing La Palma's gastronomic identity. The name "Chipi-Chipi" is a local term for light drizzle (known as horizontal rain in La Palma's cloud forests). Reservations recommended, especially weekends and during the Fiestas Lustrales de la Bajada de la Virgen (every 5 years).
