El Cotillo Seafood Quarter

El Cotillo's old harbour (Puerto del Tostón) is Fuerteventura's most atmospheric dining destination — a small working fishing harbour where visitors can eat literally metres from where the boats land. The harbour is ringed by a handful of family-run seafood restaurants, all simple in appearance but exceptional in freshness. The undisputed highlight is La Vaca Azul (The Blue Cow), a restaurant built into the old harbour wall with a rooftop terrace offering panoramic sunset views over the Atlantic and the 17th-century Castillo de El Tostón. Must-try dishes include grilled vieja (parrotfish), cherne al horno (baked wreckfish), lapas con mojo, and their seafood soup. Other notable restaurants around the harbour: El Roque de los Pescadores and La Casa de la Playa. In the village itself, the main street offers additional dining options including excellent Italian pizzerias (the village has a notable Italian expat community). El Cotillo is also known for its laid-back sunset bars where surfers gather after sessions at the nearby wave beaches. Parking is free around the harbour. Best visited for late lunch/early dinner to catch the sunset.
