Teide National Park – Hiking & Trail Running
Spain's highest peak at 3,718 m offers 37 marked trails across dramatic volcanic landscapes. Trail #10 (Telesforo Bravo) reaches the summit crater (free permit required, 200/day at reservasparquesnacionales.es). The park hosts the annual Teide Trophy mountain race and serves as altitude training ground for elite endurance athletes. Trail #3 (Roques de García, 3.5 km loop) is the most popular route. The Teide Cable Car (Teleférico del Teide) takes hikers from 2,356 m to 3,555 m (8 min, ~€38 return, book at volcanoteide.com). Best hiking: April–June and September–November. Start before sunrise to avoid midday heat.
