Silbo Gomero — the whistling language

<p>Unique whistled language — fully transposes spoken Spanish into whistles. UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (2009). Whistles carry 3-5km across deep ravines (barrancos). Nearly extinct in late 20th century — saved by making it compulsory in La Gomera schools since 1999. 22,000 people understand it today.
