Los Gigantes – Whale & Dolphin Watching
The waters between Tenerife and La Gomera host one of the world's largest resident populations of short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and bottlenose dolphins year-round. Over 28 cetacean species have been recorded in the Teno-Rasca Marine Protected Area. Boat trips depart Los Gigantes marina (2–3 hour excursions) with a 95%+ sighting success rate. Eco-certified operators (Blue Flag boats) follow whale-watching codes of conduct. Best sightings: calm mornings April–October. The backdrop of the 600 m Los Gigantes cliffs makes this one of the most spectacular whale-watching locations worldwide.
