El Médano – Windsurfing & Kitesurfing

One of the world's premier windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations, hosting multiple PWA World Tour championships annually. The consistent trade winds (locally the "El Médano Effect") provide year-round ideal conditions, best April–September. The 2 km beach splits into sections: main Playa de El Médano (family-friendly), Playa Leocadio Machado (Playa Chica), and Playa de la Tejita beneath Montaña Roja (171 m volcanic cone). Numerous surf schools offer equipment rental and lessons: Tenerife Windsurf Solution, Red Rock, and more. The pedestrianised town centre features surf shops, seafood restaurants, and a relaxed international atmosphere.
