Anaga Rural Park (Parque Rural de Anaga)

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2015, covering the entire north-eastern tip of Tenerife. Anaga features ancient laurel forests (laurisilva) dating back 7–9 million years to the Tertiary period — a rare relic of the subtropical forests that once covered much of southern Europe. The park offers a network of well-marked trails through misty, moss-draped forests, deep ravines, and along dramatic coastal cliffs. Key trails: PR-TF 6 (Chamorga to Faro de Anaga lighthouse, 8.5 km round trip, coastal views), PR-TF 10 (Cruz del Carmen to Punta del Hidalgo, 10.5 km, 4–5 hours through laurel forest), and the Sendero de los Sentidos (Path of the Senses) offering 3 accessible loops (350 m to 1,200 m). The main trailhead is at Cruz del Carmen visitor centre (accessible by TITSA bus 076 from La Laguna). The remote Playa de Benijo black sand beach lies at the park's northern edge with the dramatic Roques de Anaga rock formations.
