Mirador de La Paz (Puerto de la Cruz)
Puerto de la Cruz's beloved sunset gathering spot — a terraced promontory and viewpoint perched on the eastern edge of the town with unobstructed views across the Atlantic Ocean. On clear days (which are frequent), the silhouette of the 3,715-meter Mount Teide dominates the background while the sun sinks into the sea in the west, often producing spectacular 'green flash' phenomena at the moment of sunset. The mirador features stone benches and a small plaza where locals and visitors gather each evening — a genuine Canarian social ritual. Street musicians sometimes play Spanish guitar as the sun sets. The adjacent park (Parque de la Paz) provides additional seating under palm trees. The viewpoint is a 5-minute walk from the town center, easily reached via the seafront promenade. Free access. Best time: arrive 30 minutes before sunset to secure the best viewing position. Combine with dinner at one of the seafood restaurants in the nearby old town (Calle de La Hoya).
