Famara Beach – Surfing

Lanzarote's premier surfing destination, a 6 km stretch of golden sand backed by the dramatic 600 m Famara cliffs (Risco de Famara). The beach break offers consistent Atlantic swell, ideal for all levels from beginners to advanced. Multiple surf schools operate year-round: Calima Surf (est. 1998), Lanzarote Surf School, and Famara Surf School. The north end of the beach produces powerful waves for advanced surfers, while the south end offers gentler conditions for learners. The beach is also popular for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and wingfoiling. Equipment rental available. The village of La Caleta de Famara features surf shops, cafés, and seafood restaurants. Best swells: October–March (NW, N). Water temperature: 18–23°C. Famara is part of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park.
