A unique open-air entertainment square in the heart of Puerto del Carmen's new town, designed as a multi-level plaza built into a volcanic rock face with a distinctive spherical structure (the 'Biosfera' sphere) as its centerpiece. The plaza operates as a daytime shopping and dining destination with boutiques, souvenir shops, and international restaurants (Italian, Indian, Mexican, Canarian), but transforms after sunset into Lanzarote's primary open-air entertainment zone. The central square features street performers — fire eaters, acrobats, mime artists, live musicians, and magicians — performing on the open stage and plaza area. Surrounding the square are bars and pubs with large terraces: Paddy Mac's (Irish pub), The Highlander, and several cocktail bars offering happy hour specials (typically 5–8 PM). During summer months (July–September), the plaza hosts 'Noches de Biosfera' — programmed evening entertainment including tribute bands, flamenco shows, Latin dance nights, and children's entertainment. The plaza is particularly popular with families and mixed-age groups because the entertainment is free, visible from restaurant terraces, and suitable for all ages. It offers a more casual and relaxed alternative to the bar-crawl scene of the nearby Avenida de las Playas. Open daily until approximately midnight (bars may stay open later). Free entry to the plaza area. Combine with dinner at one of the plaza's restaurants for the best evening experience.
