Seafood Dining — Puerto del Carmen Harbour

The old fishing harbour of Puerto del Carmen (Puerto de la Tiñosa) is Lanzarote's premier destination for fresh seafood dining in an authentic setting. Unlike the purpose-built resort strip, the old harbour retains its working fishing port character — small colourful fishing boats line the quay, and the day's catch is unloaded just metres from the restaurant terraces. The harbour cluster includes several excellent restaurants: Restaurant La Chalana (the most celebrated, known for grilled fish and seafood paella), El Faro (nautical-themed, excellent salt-baked fish), and Puerto Viejo (traditional, good value). All offer tables with views of the bobbing fishing boats, the harbour, and across the water to Fuerteventura on clear days. Specialties include grilled cherne (wreckfish), calamares a la andaluza, gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns), and fresh limpets with mojo verde. Dining here at sunset is one of Lanzarote's classic experiences. Most restaurants offer set lunch menus (menú del día) at €12–18. The old harbour is a 15-minute walk from the main Playa Grande along the coastal promenade.
