El Golfo Seafood Restaurants (Fish Village)

The tiny fishing village of El Golfo on Lanzarote's dramatic west coast is arguably the best single destination for fresh seafood on the island. The cluster of waterfront restaurants — all independently family-run — serve fish landed that morning directly from the village's own fishing boats. Signature dishes available across the restaurants: grilled parrotfish (vieja a la plancha), limpets with green mojo (lapas con mojo verde), grilled squid (calamares a la plancha), Canarian fish stew (caldo de pescado), and cherne (wreckfish). The standout restaurants are Casa Rafa (the original, established 1969, famous for its grilled cherne), Restaurante El Golfo, and Costa Azul — all offering sunset views over the Atlantic directly beside the volcanic beach. After lunch, walk to the nearby Charco de los Clicos (Green Lagoon). Prices are moderate (€18–30 per person including wine). Best visited for lunch to enjoy the ocean views. The village is approximately 10 minutes south of Timanfaya National Park. No reservations typically needed except July–August. Most restaurants are closed Monday.
