Yumbo Centrum (Playa del Inglés)

The Yumbo Centrum is one of the most famous entertainment complexes in Europe and the heart of Gran Canaria's LGBTQ+ scene, though it welcomes everyone. This massive four-story open-air shopping and entertainment center houses over 200 bars, nightclubs, restaurants, cabaret venues, and shops, spread across multiple levels connected by escalators and open walkways. The complex is particularly renowned for its drag shows and cabaret — venues like Ricky's Cabaret Bar, Sparkles Show Bar, and Luxe Bar offer nightly professional drag performances, comedy shows, and tribute acts (many free entry, shows start from 10 PM). The rooftop terraces host bars with panoramic views. The nightlife builds gradually: ground-floor café terraces and restaurants are busy from 8 PM, bars fill from 11 PM, and clubs peak between 1–5 AM. Popular clubs include Mantrix, Mykonos Bar, and Cruising Bar. During daytime, the complex operates as a shopping center with boutiques, electronics shops, and restaurants. The Yumbo hosts major annual events: Maspalomas Pride (second largest Pride in Spain after Madrid, held each May, attracting over 150,000 visitors), Winter Pride (November), and various themed parties throughout the year. Security is excellent with private guards and CCTV. Taxi rank directly outside. The complex is openly LGBTQ+-friendly but straight-friendly too — estimated crowd is 70% LGBTQ+, 30% mixed.
