Roque Nublo (Iconic Natural Monument)

The most iconic natural monument of Gran Canaria — a 67-metre basalt monolith standing at 1,813 metres above sea level on the edge of the Tejeda volcanic caldera. This rock formation was a sacred site for the indigenous Canarii people. The hike from the GC-600 road parking area is approximately 3 km round trip (trail S-70) with 150 metres of elevation gain, suitable for most fitness levels. The summit offers a commanding 360° panoramic view of the entire island and, on clear days, Mount Teide on Tenerife visible to the west. The surrounding landscape of the Caldera de Tejeda — one of the largest volcanic craters in the world — is dotted with almond trees that blossom pink and white each February. Free access, no permit required. Nearby the charming village of Tejeda (voted one of Spain's most beautiful villages) offers traditional almendrado (almond) sweets.
