Category: must-visit-places 28°08'13.2"N 15°26'06.0"W | Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, north-east coast

A spectacular 3.1 km urban beach in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, consistently ranked among the best urban beaches in the world. The beach is protected by La Barra — a natural volcanic rock barrier that runs parallel to the shore, creating calm, lagoon-like waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling year-round. At low tide, the barrier emerges as a natural walkway where marine life can be observed in the rock pools. The beach is divided into sections: La Cícer (popular with surfers), Peña la Vieja (family-friendly), and La Puntilla (the traditional fishing quarter with excellent seafood restaurants). The palm-lined promenade features over 100 restaurants, bars, and cafés. The annual WOMAD world music festival takes place here each November. The beach has Blue Flag certification and offers full accessibility including amphibious chairs.
