Cofete Beach (Playa de Cofete)

Fuerteventura

Category: must-visit-places 28°05'52.8"N 14°22'30.0"W | Remote western coast, Jandía Peninsula

A spectacular 14 km wild beach on the remote western coast of the Jandía Peninsula, backed by mountains reaching 807 m at Pico de la Zarza. Accessible only via an unpaved road over the mountains from Morro Jable. The beach is completely unspoiled — no development, no facilities, just raw nature. Strong currents and Atlantic swells make swimming dangerous — this is a place for walking and photography, not bathing. The abandoned Villa Winter, a mysterious mansion with ties to World War II intrigue, sits on the hillside above the beach. This is one of the most dramatic and remote beaches in all of Europe.
