Los Hervideros

A spectacular 1.5 km stretch of lava coastline on Lanzarote's west coast, where the solidified lava flow from the 1730s eruption meets the Atlantic Ocean. Waves crash into lava tubes and caves with explosive force (hervideros means "boiling places"), sending spray metres into the air. A free, well-maintained walking path with viewpoints and railings allows safe viewing. Best visited at high tide when the waves are most dramatic. Located 4 km south of El Golfo, combining well with the Charco de los Clicos green lagoon.
