Playa de Papagayo
A crescent of pristine golden sand in the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, 5 km south of Playa Blanca. Accessible via a 2 km unpaved road (€3 entry fee by car) or a 40-minute walk along the coastal path. The sheltered cove has calm turquoise water ideal for snorkelling. No facilities other than a seasonal beach bar — bring water, sun protection, and food. Clothing optional in the farthest coves. Regularly featured in travel media as one of Europe's finest beaches.
