The largest town on La Palma and its most important commercial centre on the western side. 2-bedroom apartments: €70,000–€150,000 to buy, €400–€600/month to rent. The town offers the widest range of shops, restaurants, and services on the island outside the capital. Excellent climate at 325m elevation — warm but not as humid as the coast. The town's central location provides good access to both the Caldera de Taburiente and the west coast beaches. Popular with German residents. The area around Plaza de España is the most desirable residential zone.
