One of La Palma's most beautiful hikes through an ancient laurel forest (laurisilva) in the northeast of the island. The PR-LP 5 trail is a 10 km circular route starting at the Casa del Monte visitor centre near Puntallana. The trail winds through dense, moss-covered forest with giant ferns, over 100-year-old laurel and til trees, and valley views. Rated moderate with approximately 400m elevation change, taking 4–5 hours. The trail is part of the Los Tilos Biosphere Reserve. The forest environment is often misty and damp — wear waterproof layers and sturdy boots. Access via LP-1 and LP-102 roads with parking at the visitor centre.
