Tazacorte

A charming coastal municipality on La Palma's west coast, known for its small fishing port and the Playa de Tazacorte black sand beach. The beach is a 300m curve of volcanic sand with calm, clear water and views of the dramatic Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge. The town itself is divided into Tazacorte (inland, traditional Canarian town) and Puerto de Tazacorte (coastal, with a working fishing harbour and marina). The harbour area has excellent fish restaurants serving the day's catch. Boat excursions for dolphin and whale watching depart from the marina. The Tazacorte Valley is a major banana-producing area.
