Living in San Sebastián
As the capital, San Sebastián offers the most services and infrastructure on La Gomera. 1-bedroom apartments: €250–€450/month to rent, €50,000–€100,000 to buy. The town has the main hospital (Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe), the island's only secondary school, and the port for connections to Tenerife. The town is quieter and more traditional than Valle Gran Rey, with a working port atmosphere. The Avenida area along the waterfront has newer apartments with sea views. The historic centre around the Torre del Conde is charming but has fewer rental properties.
