Roque Nublo

Gran Canaria's most iconic natural monument — a 67-metre basalt monolith standing at 1,813m above sea level in the island's geographic centre. The hike starts from the Degollada de la Goleta parking area (GC-600 road) and follows a well-marked 3 km round-trip trail (S-70) with 150m elevation gain, rated easy to moderate and suitable for families. The trail passes through pine forest before emerging onto the rocky plateau with 360° views encompassing Teide on Tenerife on clear days. The monolith was a sacred site for the indigenous Canarii people. Best visited at sunrise or sunset for spectacular light. Free access, no permit required, and about 45 minutes each way.
