Arucas

Known as the "Cathedral City" for the neo-Gothic Church of San Juan Bautista (1909–1917), built entirely in local volcanic stone by the same architect as the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Arucas is also famous for its rum distillery (Destilerías Arehucas), the largest in the Canary Islands, founded in 1884. The town sits at the foot of the dormant Montaña de Arucas volcano and features the beautiful Municipal Park with over 100 plant species.
