Sabinosa Trail

A circular hiking route in western El Hierro through the El Golfo valley and surrounding volcanic ridges. The trail starts from the village of Sabinosa and follows traditional footpaths through vineyards and fig orchards, climbing to the Cumbre ridge at approximately 1,200m. The route offers dramatic views of the El Golfo collapse amphitheatre and the Atlantic coastline. Approximately 12 km circular with 700m elevation gain, rated moderate to difficult, taking 5–6 hours. The trail passes the Ermita de los Reyes shepherds' chapel and several miradores. Wild Canarian pine forest and endemic vegetation line the upper sections. Best walked between October and May to avoid summer heat.
